I learned about America from Americans. America is diversity.
– An Indonesian journalist
As a member of our organization, you will have the chance to interact with foreign dignitaries at receptions and “brown bag lunches.” If you are interested, you will be given the opportunity to invite IVLP participants to lunch or dinner in your home. You may volunteer to take delegations sightseeing or to escort them from their hotels to their professional meetings. You will be able to expose yourself & your family to other cultures and will have the opportunity to dispel negative stereotypes of U.S. citizens.
The U.S. Department of State pays for the delegations’ traveling expenses, but our council is not a government agency and relies on grants and the generosity of local individuals and businesses to help support our mission.
One of the ways we do this is to offer individual & corporate memberships. We hope you’ll consider joining us. Not only will you have the opportunity to meet visiting dignitaries, but you will also have the chance to meet an interesting array of locals.
Join us. Whatever role you take, as a member you will be helping to strengthen U.S. relations with other countries by putting American citizens in direct contact with tomorrow’s foreign leaders.
For information about how you can serve as a Citizen Diplomat, contact us or download a PDF copy of our membership application here.
